It is really an amazing thing to listen on some mellow songs especially with our loved ones. Music makes us feel refresh and be free from tediousness and boredom. The quote “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” -Plato, it says that without music you wouldn’t enjoy your life, but sometimes music is the one taking our happiness away especially when you feel sympathy with the music you are listening to.
Note: These songs that I will be posting are only my opinion and I based it on my own taste and how I felt about these songs. Hope you appreciate my opinion.
10. Wake Me Up When September – Green Day
This song was written by Green Day’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, this song is about how he felt about the death of his father. His father died from a cancer on September 1, 1982, Billie was 10 years old back then. At his father’s funeral, Billie cried, ran home and locked himself in his room. When his mother got home she knocked on Billie’s door and Billie answered “Wake me up when september ends,” hence the title.
However, this is not the only reason why he wrote this song. Remember the 9/11 terrorist attack 2001? Many people have lost their love ones to that tragedy on September.
9. Remembering Sunday – All Time Low
Remembering Sunday is composed by All Time Low and the story of this song is how Alex Gaskarth lost the girl he found in Vegas. But for some reason he can’t marry that girl because it was too late, he had never expressed what he really felt to that girl he met in Vegas.
You can see in the it is written in a story form on how he had lost the girl. Reminiscing about his experience and how he felt when he was with that girl. In the chorus of the music he explained how he gave his best to be with the girl despite the fact the girl turned him down. At the ending part of this song Juliet took part of it, impersonating the girl how she regret about her decisions now that Alex left.
8. Helena – My Chemical Romance
The context of this song is hard to understand if you’ll hear this song for the first time you’ll think it’s about an angry revenge love song, but if you’ll view it and try to understand it deeper you’ll find the true meaning of the song. It is about a woman who was depress, she relapsed in to her dark state. Her depression got worse and vitality was seeped away from her. The reason why the band was all in rage when they sang this, it is because it was their grandmother who committed suicide.
7. Amnesia – 5 Seconds of Summer
At the beginning of the song, He had flashback of their memories together and quickly brought him back to the reality that they broke up. He was trying to ask her friends and the answer he always get was “you’re doing fine” but he still wander if the guy she’s with in the present makes her happy, and He tries to make himself better by reading text that she wrote to him before. The guy wants to forget all the memories because it is haunting him while the girl is happy with someone’s arm. He just want to get amnesia for him to move on easily from his dark past.
6. Malibu Nights – LANY
This song is centered about heartbreak, loneliness and sadness. The narrator (Paul Klein) had his heart broken and seems like he can’t heal from the torment he’s experiencing. He’s looking for company that never came. The narrator was hoping that his phone will ring so he can talk to someone but it remained quite. In the chorus, it states how the sadness and depression consumes him rapidly, crying desperately looking for help.
5. Sana – I Belong to the Zoo
One of the saddest song I ever heard. It made me cry latenight kahit wala naman akong prinoproblema. Nakakasakit lang yung mga lyrics kasi ako mismo naranasan ko rin to, parang binalik ako sa nakaraan kong ayaw ko ng balikan. “Sana sinabi mo hahayaan naman kitang umalis” ang sakit lang noh? yung tipong di mo alam kung ano yung ginawa mo. Tipong iisipin mo kung ano naging mali at bigla ka nalang niyang iiwan? Maiiwan kang magulo ang isip di mo alam kung ikaw ang nagkamali o siya, tatalikuran ang lahat ng ganun ganun lang.
4. Kahit Di Mo Alam – December Avenue
Another OPM in the list. This song is a must listen music for all those who got their heart broken. This song emphasizes UNREQUITED LOVE, the type of love in which you don’t expect anything in return. Yung tipong kahit nasasaktan ka na sa mga pinag gagagawa niya andiyan ka parin sakaniya eventhough he/she can’t see your worth, still go ka parin ng go. This type of love is very hard because most of the time wala kang maeexpect na babalik sayo. Bigay ka nga ng bigay pero walang bumabalik at kahit na ganun you’re still happy that you see him/her happy and contented on what he/she has.
3. Terrible Things – Mayday Parade
It is all about how the story of the child’s parents love story. His father had told him the story how his father met the mother. His father fell in love deeply to his mother, his father thought they will have an happy ending but it turns out a tragic chapter of their life. His father never thought that some things aren’t meant to happen. His father told him the story because he is hoping and praying that it won’t also happen to him.
2. Game of Questions – I Belong to the Zoo
This song pierced my heart as I listen to it. every line ng kanta tatagos talaga sa puso, makaka relate ka talaga sa lyrics eh. “Why do we have to fall in love with the person who doesn’t feel the same way as we do?” tipong mapapaisip ka rin sa tanong na yan, siyempre di natin alam ang sagot kasi nagmamahal lang naman tayo diba? That moment na magmamahal ka ng tao yung di ka pa kayang mahalin pabalik, masakit yun kasi di mo alam kung di ka talaga kamahal mahal o sadyang di niya lang makita yung worth mo as their peer.
1. Heartache – One OK Rock
This song is composed by the Japanese band One OK Rock. From the title itself heartache, it literally gave me heartache instead of chills. It’s like a story of a man who have done something wrong to his lover that made them separate. If you’ll listen carefully to the music, you’ll realize how the man regret all the things he have done wrong. Yung tipong Naging kampante siya dahil alam niyang mahal siya tapos siya eh gagawa nalang ng ayaw mo.
